Below we provide an overview of the similarities for both models in more detail so you can get to know each brewer and the features they both offer better:

New MultiStream Technology

Probably the most notable and exciting feature of the Keurig K-Supreme and the K-Supreme plus is the introduction of new MultiStream brewing technology. This first feature is one we are very excited about as it enhances the flavor and quality of brewing with a Keurig resulting in a better tasting cup.

MultiStream Technology is a new and innovative brewing feature being first introduced in the Keurig K-Supreme and K-Supreme Plus coffee brewers.

MultiStream Technology is different from the traditional Keurig brewing method in that it uses more puncture points in the K-Cup during the brewing process. The traditional Keurig brewing method uses one puncture point that allows the water to stream through the K-Cup as it brews.

MultiStream Technology lives up to its name in that it uses 5 puncture points that allows multiple streams of water to run through and saturate the coffee grounds in the K-cup while brewing, resulting in a more robust flavor and aroma in your cup.

Over Ice and Strong Button

The Keurig K-Supreme is equipped with a Strong brew button.
The “Strong” brew button creates a more robust coffee in your cup.

Are you a fan of iced coffee? If you answered “yes” then you should be excited about the Over Ice button found on the K-Supreme and K-Supreme Plus.

The Over Ice button works by brewing a smaller but stronger cup of hot coffee so that your drink does not become diluted when you brew it over ice. This is a great feature for those who plan on frequently making iced coffee.

For more tips and tricks on how to brew the best iced coffee check out our brewing guide!

With the K-Supreme and K-Supreme Plus you can opt to make a stronger drink by selecting the Strong Button.

The strong feature slows down the brew cycle, which keeps the hot water in contact with the coffee grounds for a longer period of time. This results in a stronger, more flavorful cup.

Having a strong K-Cup  is the perfect compliment to the Strong Button.

Fast Brewing Time

A stop watch representing how fast the Keurig K-Supreme and K-Supreme Plus will brew a hot cup of coffee.
The Keurig K-Supreme and K-Supreme Plus will brew a hot cup of coffee within minutes.

Fortunately, the new MultiStream technology does not slow down the brewing time of the K-Supreme and K-Supreme Plus. Both machines have the ability to brew a hot cup of coffee in just minutes with a simple push of a button.

For those who have not brewed with a Keurig before, it is important to know that all Keurig machines utilize K-Cups which are basically pre-measured capsules or pods that come in ready to brew pre-measured capsules.

All you need to do when brewing with a Keurig is select the K-Cup you want to brew, place it in the machine, choose your preferred brewing options and let it do its magic!

Wide Variety of Drinks

A variety of Keurig K-Cups stacked on each other.
K-Cups come in over 400 varieties made to satisfy every coffee drinkers needs!

With over 400 varieties and 60 brands of K-Cups there will never be a shortage of K-Cup drinks to sample. One of the major selling points of any Keurig machine is the versatility in drinks and drink types that is readily available. We highly recommend you try the following K-Cup options:

If you crave the best freshly ground coffee or prefer a more environmentally friendly alternative to the K-Cup, the K-Supreme and K-Supreme Plus both have the ability to brew with a reusable filter.

A reusable filter is convenient in that it can be re-used in a Keurig multiple times and can be filled with your favorite freshly ground coffee before brewing.

Maintenance Alerts

Maintenance alerts on Keurig brewing machines are helpful as it notifies you when the machine is due for maintenance. The Keurig K-Supreme and K-Supreme Plus comes with an add water and descaling alert that will light up when either function on the machine needs to be addressed.

The purpose of the add water button is exactly as it sounds and is simply an indicator for when the water reservoir needs the water refilled before the machine is able to complete its brew cycle.

It is recommended you descale and clean your machine after every 250 brew cycles. This procedure can be tricky until you know the proper steps for descaling your Keurig. The descale alert feature tracks your total number of brews and notifies you when the machine is ready for maintenance.

Simple Button Controls

Features on a coffee machine are always great to have, however, it can be overwhelming to operate the brewer when it has too many buttons and knobs to select from.

Keurig has made a point to design the Keurig K-Supreme and K-Supreme Plus as simplistically as possible with their simple button control design.

Simple button control design ensures there are not too many buttons to choose from. Instead the brewers are designed to make selecting your brewing preferences as easy as possible so that you can enjoy a hot cup without any hassle.

Back to Back Brewing

Back to back brewing is a convenient feature that allows you to brew multiple cups one right after the other without having to wait for the water tank to heat the water between cycles. This allows you to brew multiple cups as quickly as possible.

High Altitude Setting

Both the K-Supreme and K-Supreme plus come with a high altitude setting. At high altitudes water requires slightly less energy to boil. As such, the high altitude function on the Keurig boils the water for your coffee at a slightly lower temperature.

This is a convenient option to consider if you live in a higher altitude as it ensures you get a perfect cup of coffee every time.

K-Supreme vs K-Supreme Plus Differences

Brew Size

Different cup sizes the K-Supreme and K-Supreme Plus offers.
The K-Supreme offers 4 brew size options whereas the K-Supreme Plus offers 5 cup sizes.

A key difference between these two models is in the brewing sizes they each offer. With the K-Supreme you have up to 4 brewing sizes at your fingertips including a 6, 8, 10, or 12 ounce cup.

The K-Supreme Plus model gives you an additional 4 ounce brewing size option for a more concentrated cup of coffee. With 5 brewing sizes provided (4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 oz cups), the K-Supreme Plus gives you more control over your cup size.

If you are a fan of espresso like coffee drinks, then the versatility of the K-Supreme Plus with its 4 ounce concentrated brewing size is an option you should seriously consider. If you will use the Keurig to brew a more traditional sized coffee drink, then the K-Supreme is more than adequate.

Both of these Keurig models will brew outstanding coffee at the push of a button. However, If you are in the market for a single-serve machine that brews perfect espresso with Keurig speed, then we recommend you consider the popular Nespresso models.

Temperature Control Options

Exclusive to the Keurig K-Supreme Plus is the ability to select from three brewing temperatures. This customization allows you to brew your drink in the temperature range that best fits your drink preferences and brewing needs.

The K-Supreme does not offer a temperature control option, instead brewing all drinks at the standard temperature of 192 degrees Fahrenheit.

Customization of brewing temperature is a huge nice to have, especially if you are like Cozy and enjoy your cup of joe extra hot.

Although this feature is great to have, it is important to note that it is not  a “need” to have.

The K-Supreme will still provide you with a satisfying and warm cup at the press of a button.

Removable Water Tank

The Keurig K-Supreme has a removable water reservoir.
The Keurig K-Supreme and K-Supreme Plus both have a removable water tank.

Both the K-Supreme and K-Supreme Plus come with a removable water tank but the similarities stop there. A removable water tank allows you to remove the water tank from the machine in order to easily refill it with water. Once the water is refilled, you simply place the water reservoir back into the Keurig brewer.

The stand out feature on the K-Supreme’s water tank is the fact that it is repositionable.  This means that you can position the water tank either to the right, back or left of the machine. This is a very useful option to have if you need a specific configuration to fit your counter space needs.

The K-Supreme Plus does not have a repositionable water tank. Instead, the water tank is in a fixed position at the back of the machine.

The K-Supreme Plus has a generously sized 78 ounce water tank, which means you can make up to 9 drinks before having to refill. In comparison, the K-Supreme has a decent 66 ounce sized water tank which will brew up to 8 drinks before having to refill.

In our opinion, a larger water reservoir is an ideal feature worth spending extra money on as it reduces the number of times you have to refill the tank between cups.

If you have the need to change the Keurig’s configuration based on your available counter space then the K-Supreme is the better choice. Its 66 ounce tank is still sized large enough so that you won’t feel like you are constantly refilling.

Auto-On Feature

The Auto-On Feature is only available on the K-Supreme. Auto-On allows you to set the brewer to automatically turn on at a specific time.

It is important to note that this feature does not automatically brew a cup of coffee. Instead it preheats the brewer so it is warmed up and ready to go when you want to brew.

Individual Brewing Preferences

The ability to save individual brewing preferences is a feature that is exclusive to the K-Supreme Plus. This allows you to save brewing preferences for up to three users.

This feature is extremely easy to use. On the Keurig brewer there are buttons labeled one thru three.

You will program the button to fit your specific brewing preferences, then whenever you go to brew you will hit your numbered button and it will have all your preferences pre-selected and ready to go!

This is a convenient, time-saving function that is worth every penny in our opinion.

Color Options

The K-Supreme Plus comes in one color option, a sleek stainless steel metal wrap. It has a modern, neutral design that should go with almost any kitchen or decor.

The K-Supreme comes with a bit more flexibility in design with multiple color options to choose from including Black, Grey, Farmhouse White, Silver Sage, and White.

Cozy’s Bottom Line

The K-Supreme and K-Supreme Plus are two new and exciting brewers that have recently been introduced into the Keurig Line. This new MultiStream technology ensures you can enjoy the freshest, tastiest and most aromatic cup possible.

The K-Supreme Plus comes with many features and upgrades that make it a stand out machine such as temperature control and the ability to program brewing preferences for up to three users. If you want the ability to customize your drinks to your specific preferences while still being able to use a time efficient Keurig, this is the perfect option for you.

The K-Supreme also has an impressive number of features. Although the K-Supreme is not as loaded with options as the K-Supreme Plus it still provides a respectable array of features such as Auto-On and the ability to brew four different drink sizes.

Both models have a repositionable water tank feature that is a game changer for those who need the flexibility to decide on the configuration that works best for their space.

Cozy’s Conclusion

If we had to pick the best of the bunch, we recommend the K-Supreme Plus due to its large capacity water tank and its ability to allow you to customize and program your brewing preferences.

However, if space or counter configuration is a key consideration we think the K-Supreme is an option that should make even the most discerning single-serve brewer user happy.

We hope you end up enjoying your Keurig as much as we enjoy ours. Cheers!
